Its nestled in Winnebago County, this village has become my home sweet home for a little over a year now, and oh boy, what a ride it's been!Rockton isn't just a spot on the map; it's like stepping into a time capsule where history whispers through the bricks of charming buildings. As I've wandered its streets, I've soaked up stories that locals have kindly shared, stories that make this place feel alive with tales of the past.But it's not all history and no play. Let's talk about DeeDee's Café – a warm nook that's more than just a café. It's a place where your cup of joe comes with a side of friendly chats and genuine smiles. And speaking of smiles, Dairy Haus the name says it all. Imagine creamy, dreamy ice cream that's been bringing joy to folks for generations. Then there's Kiss Glass, local artists to showcase their crafts and selection of "green" items.When the sun dips beyond the horizon, Rockton's transformation is a sight to see. I am so excited to share with you all that HOME will soon have a new home. I am purchasing Erica’s property and will be relocating the business in September/October. This building has a special place in my heart. I have fond memories of shopping The Country Cottage with my mom and grandma throughout the years. I wish my Grandma was here still to see this incredible opportunity unfold. In the meantime we will be open upstairs on the weekends and downstairs normal days & hours. Thank you all so much for your continued support. I can’t wait to transform the space into a fun shopping destination for the community to enjoy.

Great news for all the fans of HOME in Rockton! The beloved business is gearing up for a big change as they prepare to relocate to a new and special place. According to their recent Facebook post, Kristy is purchasing Erica's property and plans to move the business in September/October.The new building holds a sentimental value, as it brings back cherished memories of shopping at The Country Cottage with the owner's mom and grandma over the years. Although they wish their grandma could witness this incredible opportunity, they are filled with enthusiasm to make this move a reality.During the transition, HOME will still be accessible to customers. You can find them open upstairs on weekends and downstairs during normal days and hours. Your continued support means the world to them, and they can't wait to unveil the transformed space, which promises to be a delightful shopping destination for the entire community to enjoy. Wow! Happy one year HOME. I can’t believe I opened one year ago already. HOME was a vision I had been considering for awhile. As some of you know, I also own an antique store in Beloit, WI called VIntage Bliss Decor. I wanted to offer the Stateline a fun home decor and gift shop as well. After unexpectedly losing my Dad in March, I realized how quickly life can pass us by and decided to go for it. Everyone has been so supportive and welcoming and I can’t thank you all enough for that. I will be closed today as I am traveling up North to see my mom but will be open normal hours the rest of the week. Thank you all so much for keeping our doors open by shopping small. It makes more of a difference than you’ll ever know

The other day, I decided to try something new for lunch and visited Hatley's Pub located in downtown Beloit, Wisconsin. I had heard a lot about their lunch specials and was excited to give it a try. The waiter recommended the baked cod to me, and I am glad I took her suggestion. The meal was exceptional, with the baked cod being perfectly flavored with butter, lemons, and Tabasco sauce. The coleslaw was delicious and the corn bread was the perfect complement. What I loved most about this meal was that I left feeling satisfied but not overly full. If you are in the area and looking for a great meal with a cold refreshing beverage, I highly recommend checking out Hatley's Pub.
