Rockton Illinois, the Full Experience!

Rockton Illinois, the Full Experience!

Jake and Leah took over downtown Rockton for a day of fun, food, and shopping! Keep reading to check out some of the stops they made along the way. Oh, and did I mention they also walked the length of the Elevator Road walking path to get there 😱!?!  First stop after that long walk was Rookies Pub and Grill for a BBQ Chicken pizza and a few beverages to dull the foot pain, and to prep Jake for a day of shopping with his wife 😂. This thin crust pizza is perfect shared between two. Loaded with BBQ sauce, chicken, hearty onion slices, and enough cheese to give you that satisfying pull and stretch with each bite, this pizza is not only delicious but fun to eat. Seriously, the cheese, gold star. You can't visit downtown Rockton without a trip to Dairy Haus. Jake tried Nutter Butter and Leah went with Cookies n' Cream in a cone. These were Jr. sizes, so you know the servings are generous and the ice cream is hand crafted deliciousness. This is a family summer staple to add to your list! After Jake was well fed, the shopping began! They bought a new house plant at Rockton Garden Works (we hear Leah found a unicorn pot!). They browsed the stacks and left with a few new additions at Inkwell. Truly Treasured and Frosted Farmhouse were fun stops with so much to look at and explore. Ric Rac has fun beach home decor and new fashion for women. At the end of the day, they stopped at The Gem Shop to look at Citizen watches and other shiny things.Downtown Rockton is a great destination for a walkable date day or family excursion! With more great stops like Sugar Britches and DeeDee's Coffee, you can spend all day looking for the perfect addition to your home, closet, and stomach! See you there, Stateline!

Floral Backdrop business owner Cece celebrates 1 Year of Service!

Floral Backdrop business owner Cece celebrates 1 Year of Service!

Today marks Wisco Blooms one-year anniversary! It seems like it was just yesterday that I started. It's been a fun and exciting year, and we look forward to what's in store for us this year. I'm excited to share the new projects and services we are adding soon! This wall you see here is what started it all. I was needing to work a part-time job (along with my full-time time as I still do today). But decided to take a chance on myself!I want to thank EVERYONE who supported me and believed in me. You all got me through those rough times when I perhaps second-guessed myself. This brings me to my last point, sometimes, as women, we second-guess ourselves and underestimate what we can do. I want to encourage all women who have a passion or an idea for something to pursue it, give it all it takes, and never give up. Other people may be doing the same thing, but they are not YOU.Thank you for your continued support. It means the world to me.XoXoCece

Haanpaa Martial Arts: A Journey with Coach Darby and Amanda Haanpaa

Discovering the Heartbeat of Haanpaa Martial Arts: A Journey with Coach Darby and Amanda HaanpaaRecently, I had the pleasure of getting to know the dynamic duo behind Haanpaa Martial Arts, Coach Darby and Amanda Haanpaa. With over 24 years of training in Muay Thai Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiujitsu, Coach Darby holds a 1st Degree Black Belt under Professor Jeff Curran. His passion for martial arts is evident in every class he teaches, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to the gym.Amanda, though newer to the martial arts world with six years of training in both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiujitsu, is the driving force behind the scenes. She ensures everything runs smoothly, supporting the gym’s mission to impact the Stateline area by empowering individuals through martial arts.Oscar learned that the Haanpaa family's commitment goes beyond the mats. They are dedicated to creating a community where people from all walks of life can come together, grow, and succeed both on and off the mats. Their two children are also a part of this vibrant community, adding to the family atmosphere of the gym.The Haanpaa Martial Arts mission is to inspire confidence, empowerment, and fitness through martial arts. Oscar was particularly impressed by their passion for life-changing experiences and their dedication to their team’s success. It’s clear that Coach Darby and Amanda have no plans of slowing down, and their vision for the future is bright. For those looking to start their martial arts journey or find a supportive community, Haanpaa Martial Arts is the place to be.
