I had the honor of meeting Cass with Skin Deep Studio. Amazing shop. I love this location because of the unique services they offer. A studio where you can get a tattoo or your lashes done. I know school is out, but that doesn't mean the learning has to stop. The 3R's is a place where your child can have tons of fun while learning new skills. Baby Selena had an amazing time! Watch the video to learn more about the owner.

Fika, Fika, Fika. One thing that I love about getting to know my new community of the Stateline is learning new things. Fika is a Swedish word that translates as, “taking a break for coffee, having a bite to eat, and relaxing with others. Fika Salon is in the heart of Rockton. I had the honor of meeting with Lisa and getting the grand tour of her beautiful shop.What stood out to me right away was the art outside of the door. Two white wings. Greeting you, but also setting the atmosphere for the relaxing feel of the salon. Fika Salon really was breathtaking. Relaxing area with a couch and coffee table to kick back. Fika Salon also sells coffee to take home. Which was cool. There are two chandeliers that sparkle and light up the whole place. Also, there are hair products for purchase. This good brand is called Aquage. Not having long flowing hair anymore, I am kind of out of the product game. After looking it up, Aquage had some great reviews. Now that I’m growing out my hair, I can’t wait to give it a try. After getting the tour of the salon, Lisa, the owner, told me about her journey. Lisa is a family person for sure. Nothing better than a big family. She has been a hair stylist for twenty-one years. Which is amazing. Talk about experience in the trade. A professional that anyone could trust. She has been the owner of Fika Salon for about 3 years now. The shop has four other stylists. One with nineteen years of experience herself. Lisa did grow up in the Stateline community. One of her favorite things about the area is the Hononegah Forest Preserve. Personally, I have never been but now I want to check it out. I haven't been camping in forever. Also, Lisa loves the small-town community of Rockton. The people and events really make the town feel larger than life. With having a large family, schooling is important for Lisa. She held the schools in the area to high regard. Which is great to hear about because of my growing little one.Fika Salon is the place to be. Growing out my hair just got that much more exciting. I am looking forward to using Fika Salon’s services in the future. I could get a facial wax beforehand if I really wanted, but that really isn’t my thing. Waiting for the hair growth process it is. I would highly recommend anyone, and everyone to stop by Fika Salon and get to know what Fika is all about. Relaxing and being with people who don’t only cut hair, they're family. The great conversations, a place where you can be yourself and really take in the moment.-Until next time, Oscar signing off
