As graduation day approaches, I want to take a moment to give a huge congratulations to the incredible students graduating from Beloit Memorial High School this year! 🎉

June 7th will be a special day for so many families in the Stateline area, and for the Class of 2025, it marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. But before we look forward, let’s take a quick walk through the legacy of the Purple Knights.

Beloit Memorial High School has been a cornerstone of the community for over a century. The current BMHS building opened in 1966, located right along the Rock River with its iconic purple exterior and sprawling campus.

Before that, Beloit High School had existed in earlier forms, with history dating back to the 1800s. Over the decades, BMHS has evolved and expanded—adding athletic fields, performance spaces, and modern renovations to keep up with the times, including a major renovation to the auditorium and athletic wing in the early 2000s.

Through it all, BMHS has stood as a symbol of pride for the city of Beloit.

If you’re from Beloit, you already know: BMHS takes athletics seriously.

The school has a long-standing rivalry with Janesville schools and has been home to powerhouse programs in track and field, football, swimming, and basketball. In fact, Beloit Memorial’s boys swim team has made multiple appearances at the state level, and the school has earned state titles in various sports throughout its history.

Beyond trophies and titles, BMHS has always celebrated teamwork, spirit, and community—values that extend far beyond the field.

Over the years, BMHS has produced some pretty amazing alumni. A few notable names include:

  1. Jim Caldwell – Former NFL head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions.
  2. Everett Mitchell – Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice.
  3. Joe Davis – National sports broadcaster for FOX and the voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Each one of them started their journey right here at BMHS—and who knows, the Class of 2025 could have the next big name in sports, media, or leadership.

While BMHS is, of course, an academic institution, it’s also widely recognized for its extracurricular programs. The school has an award-winning band program that has traveled for national performances, a theater program that puts on high-level productions, and plenty of clubs that foster creativity and leadership.

The annual show choir competitions and marching band showcases bring the community together and highlight the amazing talent right here in Beloit.

Did you graduate from BMHS? What class were you in? What’s one memory that still makes you smile?

I’d love to hear your stories—drop them in the comments below! Whether you're Class of ’75 or Class of ’25, this is your place to reminisce and celebrate everything it means to be a Purple Knight.

🎉 Congrats again to the BMHS Class of 2025—you’ve made your mark. Now go show the world what Beloit is all about.
