Why Even Non-Baseball Fans Should Catch a Beloit Sky Carp Game

Why Even Non-Baseball Fans Should Catch a Beloit Sky Carp Game

I’ll be honest: I don’t follow baseball. I couldn’t tell you who’s leading the league or what a WHIP is. But after attending a Beloit Sky Carp game, I can confidently say that you don’t need to be a baseball fanatic to have an absolute blast at ABC Supply Stadium. The Beloit Sky Carp, formerly known as the Beloit Snappers, have been a staple in minor league baseball since 1982. Originally affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers, the team underwent several changes over the years, including affiliations with the Minnesota Twins and Oakland Athletics, before partnering with the Miami Marlins in 2021. In 2022, embracing a fresh identity, they rebranded as the Sky Carp—a nod to geese that choose not to migrate, symbolizing the team's commitment to staying rooted in Beloit .ABC Supply Stadium, the team's home since 2021, is a game-changer. Built with the community in mind, it offers a 360-degree concourse, comfortable seating, and a design that pays homage to Beloit's industrial heritage . It's not just a place to watch baseball; it's a venue that enhances the entire experienceOne of the standout features is Poopsie’s Play Zone—a dedicated area where kids can enjoy games and activities while adults soak in the game. Watching the kids race Poopsie, the team's mascot, at the end of the game is a delight—full of laughter, cheers, and the kind of moments that make lasting memories. The Sky Carp know how to keep things exciting. From post-game fireworks to themed nights and special promotions, there's always something happening. These events add an extra layer of entertainment, ensuring that every visit offers something new . The stadium doesn't skimp on refreshments. With a variety of food options and a selection of local beers, it's easy to find something to satisfy your cravings. Whether you're in the mood for classic ballpark fare or something a bit more gourmet, they've got you covered.Even if you're not a baseball enthusiast, a Sky Carp game offers an experience that's hard to beat. It's a blend of community spirit, entertainment, and relaxation. Whether you're looking for a fun family outing, a unique date night, or just a new way to enjoy an evening, this is the place to be.So, if you're in or around Beloit, do yourself a favor: check out the Sky Carp's schedule and plan a visit. You might just find yourself becoming a regular.https://www.milb.com/beloit/schedule

Why We Still Make Mattresses the Old-Fashioned Way at The Beloit Mattress Company

Why We Still Make Mattresses the Old-Fashioned Way at The Beloit Mattress Company

In today’s world, where robots and assembly lines dominate production, it’s rare to find businesses that still stick to the roots of craftsmanship. But The Beloit Mattress Company is one of those gems that proudly embraces tradition over automation.Handcrafted Mattresses with a Personal TouchWalk into any large-scale mattress factory, and you’ll likely see machines cranking out hundreds—or even thousands—of mattresses every day. But at The Beloit Mattress Company, the process is much different. Here, you'll find a team of skilled artisans using the same sewing machines, tables, and hand tools that have been in use for decades. There are no assembly lines, no shortcuts—just real craftsmanship, made by hand, one mattress at a time. This dedication to quality and care is what truly sets The Beloit Mattress Company apart from its competitors. While other factories may focus on speed and volume, this family-run business takes pride in creating each mattress with attention to detail, ensuring you get the best sleep possible.Craftsmanship Built on Generations of ExperienceAs a 5th-generation family business, The Beloit Mattress Company has deep roots in the community and a long tradition of mattress-making. Their commitment to quality craftsmanship has been passed down from generation to generation, with each mattress embodying the knowledge and expertise honed over decades.Because they’re factory-direct, there’s no middleman involved, which means you get much more value for your money. The Beloit Mattress Company focuses on offering exceptional quality at a fraction of the cost of big-name mattress retailers, all while ensuring that you sleep comfortably for years to come.A Shoutout to Our Sponsor, The Beloit Mattress CompanyWe’re proud to showcase The Beloit Mattress Company as a sponsor and highlight their dedication to craftsmanship and quality. Joyful Learning and Earth Day Fun at the Beloit Public Library 🌍📚

Joyful Learning and Earth Day Fun at the Beloit Public Library 🌍📚

Here’s something beautiful happening in Beloit for Earth Day that I wanted to share—because it’s more than just an event, it’s a celebration of learning, community, and the planet we all call home.On Saturday, April 26th, from 1 to 2pm, the Beloit Public Library is hosting a special Earth Day Celebration & Community Festival. It’s part of a bigger movement called Badgerland Learning Days, which brings together organizations from all over Rock County to create hands-on, joyful learning experiences for families. This isn’t just your average Earth Day event. It's a drop-in style afternoon filled with creativity, discovery, and connection. Families can explore interactive booths, meet local organizations doing good work, and get a taste of everything from gardening and science to art, storytelling, and even cuddles from therapy dogs. And just before the festival officially kicks off, from 12 to 1:30pm, complimentary food will be served—thanks to the generous support of Dwelling Angels. What I love most about this event is how it blends fun with purpose. It reminds us that learning doesn’t have to feel like school—it can be music, crafts, nature walks, or simply hearing a story about why the Earth matters. And when communities come together like this to create space for kids and families to explore, ask questions, and get inspired, that’s something worth celebrating. If you're free that day, it's absolutely worth stopping by—even just for a little bit. It's free, it’s local, and it’s full of heart. And if you’re curious about other events happening this week as part of Badgerland Learning Days, there are over 120 free and low-cost opportunities across the region. You can check out the full lineup at www.remakelearningdays.org/badgerland.Hope to see some of you out enjoying the sunshine and all the creative ways our community is coming together to celebrate Earth Day this year. 💚🌎

A Hometown Hero Returns: Coach Jim Caldwell at Beloit Memorial

A Hometown Hero Returns: Coach Jim Caldwell at Beloit Memorial

This past Saturday, Beloit Memorial High School had the incredible honor of welcoming back one of its own—Jim Caldwell, a Stateline native who has built an impressive career in the NFL. Caldwell, who once roamed the halls of Beloit Memorial as a standout athlete, returned home to share his experiences, wisdom, and love for the community that shaped him.The event, titled One-On-One: A Conversation with Coach Jim Caldwell, was hosted at Beloit Memorial and presented by the Jim and Cheryl Caldwell Foundation. It was a special opportunity for attendees to hear directly from Caldwell about his journey from a high school athlete in Beloit to an NFL coach with multiple Super Bowl rings.Caldwell’s resume speaks for itself—he’s been a head coach for both the Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts and has held key coaching roles with several other teams. He’s currently serving as a senior assistant for the Carolina Panthers, continuing his legacy of leadership and excellence in the league.During his time at Beloit Memorial, Caldwell made his mark as a talented defensive back and kick returner for the school’s undefeated 1972 football team. He also played a crucial role as a guard on the 1973 state championship basketball team. His achievements as a student-athlete were just the beginning of a career that would take him to the highest levels of professional football. At the event, Caldwell took the stage in the school’s theater, answering questions from a host before speaking directly to the audience. His message was one of perseverance, hard work, and the importance of giving back to the community.A huge thank you to Beloit Memorial High School and the School District of Beloit for helping make this event possible. Supporting free, positive news and celebrating local success stories like Caldwell’s is what keeps our community strong!
