When it comes to celebrating life’s special moments, the atmosphere matters just as much as the occasion itself. That’s exactly why Intimate Affairs By Tarina has quickly become one of Beloit’s most beloved event spaces.

Tarina’s journey into event planning began in 2007 when she planned her own wedding. She didn’t just coordinate the details—she fell in love with the entire process. From color schemes and centerpieces to seating arrangements and creating a flow that felt meaningful, it sparked something in her. What started as a personal project turned into a passion and then into a thriving business that continues to grow today.

Fast forward to April—Intimate Affairs By Tarina just celebrated three years at its downtown Beloit location. But the mission has always remained the same: to create unforgettable, elegant, and intimate moments for every client.

Tarina offers a wide range of services including event planning and coordination, event styling, catering, and consulting. Whether you're envisioning a romantic wedding, a joyful baby shower, a milestone birthday, or even a professional business seminar, she has a package that fits.

What truly sets her apart is her eye for decor and her heart for people. Tarina’s favorite part? Watching someone’s vision come to life and seeing the joy on their face when they walk into the space she’s transformed. That emotional connection fuels everything she does.

The venue itself can host up to 150 guests, with ample parking and a convenient downtown location. It’s the perfect setting for anniversaries, receptions, family reunions, memorials, business meetings, live entertainment, and more. Clients have the option to fully customize their experience or choose one of the “Just Show Up” packages, where Tarina and her team handle all the setup and styling so you can simply arrive and enjoy.

As a family-owned and operated business, there's a deep level of care and dedication in everything they do. Tarina is hands-on, heart-first, and all about creating a welcoming, stylish, and stress-free space for your next celebration.

Her motto says it all:

"If it's intimate & elegant... I got you!"

If you're looking for a space that feels personal, stylish, and full of love—Intimate Affairs By Tarina might just be your perfect match.

New in Durand: GameStar Arcade is the Local Spot for Big-Time Fun

I had the chance to swing by GameStar Arcade in Durand, and let me just say, this place is a blast. It’s brand new, only two months old, and already it’s creating some serious buzz. If you're looking for a local spot to hang out with family, host a birthday party, or just let loose and have fun like a kid again, GameStar is where it's at.I got to meet Erik, the owner, who’s not only super down to earth but also clearly passionate about what he's created here. His goal was simple: give families a place to stay local and still have a fun, exciting experience without needing to drive far. And he picked the perfect spot. Durand is right in the heart of everything. Honestly, if you're seeing this post, there's a good chance you're no more than 30 minutes away. Now, let’s talk games. This isn’t your typical throwback arcade with old machines from the 80s. Everything here is brand new, with a focus on the kinds of games you see trending online. They've got basketball shooting games, racing simulators, sports challenges, and even a Tiger Woods Golf Simulator that lets you feel like you're teeing off at Augusta. But the real star of the show? The VR 4D Experience.I tried it myself and was completely blown away. I strapped on the headset, got into the motion chair, and suddenly I was in a King Kong movie, dodging helicopters, shaking in my seat, the whole deal. It was immersive, intense, and honestly? One of the most fun things I’ve done in a while. It made me feel like a kid again. If you’ve never tried VR like this before, GameStar is a perfect first experience. What makes this place special is how much more they offer beyond the arcade. There’s a full service bar with a menu that includes appetizers and full meals, perfect if you're coming with a group or just want to chill and hang out. I grabbed a bite after hitting all the games, and the food did not disappoint. They also have slots for adults, a prize center, and yep, I actually won an Xbox while I was there. No joke. The prize center is filled with awesome rewards, from candy and toys to big ticket items that are totally winnable if you put in the time (or get lucky like I did).Outside, there’s a patio space for hanging out on nice days, and they even host live music events on select nights. The vibe here is super friendly and welcoming. Whether you’re a parent looking for a birthday party spot or someone just wanting to unwind with some games and a drink, they’ve got something for you.Oh, and I can't forget about the ice cream. They serve 20 flavors of Cedar Crest Ice Cream, which makes this place a go to spot all on its own, even if you're just in the mood for a cone on a hot day. It's a nice touch that shows how GameStar is thinking about the whole experience. Fun, food, and treats for everyone. This place is only getting started, and I can already tell it’s going to be a big hit in the Stateline area. Erik and his team have built something special. Something that feels fun, fresh, and super local. It’s got that hometown vibe with a big time entertainment feel.If you’re looking for your next night out, a birthday party location, or a place to just relive your favorite arcade moments with a modern twist, head to Durand and check out GameStar Arcade. You can find more info, including party bookings, menus, and event details, on their website: gamestararcade.comStateline Buzz approved. 👊

New Breakfast Spot in Town: Eggsquisite Café Opens in Beloit

There is a new go-to breakfast spot in the Stateline, and it is already earning a lot of buzz.Eggsquisite Café, located at 2042 S Afton Road in the Town of Beloit, is officially open and serving up breakfast favorites with a flavorful twist. I stopped by recently to check it out, and I left full, happy, and excited to come back. This is a family-owned café with a story rooted right here in the community. Ivan Jaimes is the proud owner, and while he is running the show, his entire family has played a role in bringing this dream to life. If Jaime's name sounds familiar, it should. His parents, Margarito and Evelia, have been a part of Beloit’s food scene for nearly a decade. They own Jerry’s Bakery on Fourth Street, and Evelia’s brother owns Jerry’s Café next door. The family also owns Tex’s Grocery on St Lawrence Avenue. Now, with Eggsquisite Café, Ivan is stepping into his chapter, inspired by his father’s years of experience and a shared love for breakfast done right. His dad, Margarito, once worked for Egg Harbor Café, a popular breakfast chain in Illinois, and always dreamed of opening a place like that, but with their family spin. That dream is now a reality. The space has been completely redesigned. It is fresh, modern, and welcoming. You can feel the care they have poured into every detail, from the layout to the kitchen equipment. The menu offers something for everyone. You will find traditional American breakfast favorites like pancakes, omelets, and skillets, along with dishes that bring in bold Mexican flavor. During my visit, I ordered a healthier take on the classics. Eggs over medium, turkey bacon, hashbrowns, and toast. Everything came out hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. And yes, the coffee is on point. Smooth, rich, and a morning must. But here is the moment that stuck with me. The perfect bite. I took a little bit of everything, stacked it all together for one forkful, and let me tell you, that bite summed up the entire vibe of the place. Comforting, satisfying, and made with love.Eggsquisite Café is open daily from 6 AM to 2 PM, making it a great spot whether you are an early riser or rolling in closer to lunchtime. If you are looking for a new place to grab breakfast, catch up with a friend, or just treat yourself to something good, give them a visit.📍 Eggsquisite Café 2042 S Afton Road, Beloit, WI 🕕 Open daily from 6 AM to 2 PM

Celebrating 10 Years of Local Flavor at Lucy’s #7 Burger Bar in Downtown Beloit

If you're looking for a place in downtown Beloit that captures the spirit of Wisconsin in every bite, Lucy’s #7 Burger Bar is it. I recently stopped by to check it out, and let me just say, this place totally lives up to the hype.Lucy’s has been part of the downtown scene for over 10 years now, and it’s not hard to see why people keep coming back. It has that perfect mix of warm hospitality, rustic charm, and a menu that screams Midwest comfort. From the moment you walk in, you feel the energy. It’s lively, inviting, and just has that “I could hang out here for hours” kind of vibe. Now let’s talk food. Lucy’s is known for their smash burgers, and they’re not messing around. I went with the mac and cheese burger, and wow—it was stacked with creamy mac and cheese, crispy bacon, and sharp cheddar, all layered over a perfectly grilled burger. It’s one of those meals where you have to pause after the first bite because it’s just that good. And of course, I had to get a side of cheese curds. This is Wisconsin, after all. Lightly breaded, crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and served with ranch—exactly how cheese curds are meant to be.What makes Lucy’s really stand out is their dedication to local flavor. Their entire beer list features craft brews from right here in Wisconsin. I built my own flight of four local beers, and each one had its own unique character. Whether you're into a crisp lager or a bold IPA, they’ve got you covered.Beyond the food and drinks, the space itself is part of the experience. Lucy’s is located inside the historic Hotel Goodwin building, and the blend of vintage charm with modern touches gives it a cozy yet upscale feel. Whether you're grabbing lunch with friends, stopping in before a Beloit Sky Carp game, or just looking for a cool date night spot, Lucy’s is a go-to.After 10 years in business, Lucy’s #7 has become a staple of downtown Beloit. They’ve built something special here: great food, great beer, and a place that genuinely feels like part of the community. Here’s to the next 10 years of burgers, cheese curds, and all the local love.If you haven’t been yet, trust me, this one’s worth the visit.

Celebrating 25 Years of Creativity at the Beloit Art Center

Downtown Beloit has a lot of great spots, but one place that stands out to me is the Beloit Art Center. If you’ve never been or it’s been a while, now is the perfect time to visit, because the center is celebrating 25 incredible years of bringing creativity to our community. When you step inside the Beloit Art Center, you instantly feel the passion and energy of local art. Every single month, the gallery changes. One month, you might see a professional artist from the region, and the next, you’ll see work from emerging creators, high school students, or community members sharing their talents. It keeps things fresh and exciting. You never know what you’ll discover. I love that about this place. It's always evolving. This isn’t just a gallery either. The Beloit Art Center offers classes for adults and kids, giving everyone the chance to dive into their creativity. Whether you're into painting, photography, ceramics, or just want to try something new, there are so many ways to get involved. The building itself has a cool story. It was built in 1912 and originally used by the Bell Telephone Company. Over the years, it’s been everything from a restaurant to an antique store to a meeting place for the Elks Club. Since 1999, it’s been the home of the Beloit Art Center, first as the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator, and since 2017 under its current name. In 2020, the center took ownership of the building, planting its roots even deeper in the community. Now let’s talk about the big celebration. On July 19th, the Beloit Art Center is throwing a huge outdoor anniversary event to celebrate 25 years of art, culture, and community. It’s happening in the parking lot behind the building, and they’ve packed the evening with some awesome stuff.Starting at 5:00 PM, you can catch live music from Nick and Friends to kick off the night. Then at 6:30 PM, they’ll have speeches and unveil a brand-new mural, which I’m super excited to see. And the party keeps going with Mr. Pink playing from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. There will be food trucks too, so come hungry. One of the highlights of the night will be the special indoor exhibit, “25 Years of Art at BAC,” showcasing work from artists who have been part of the gallery over the years. It’s a chance to really take in how much this center has meant to artists and visitors alike. The Beloit Art Center is one of those places that makes our city feel special. It gives artists a place to shine and gives all of us a place to connect through creativity. I’m proud to have it right here in our downtown, and I hope to see you at the anniversary celebration.Let’s keep supporting local art and the spaces that make it possible.

Turtle Island Playground at Riverside Park Was So Worth the Wait

I had a chance to visit the brand new Turtle Island Playground at Riverside Park in Beloit and let me tell you, it completely blew me away.If you have not seen this space yet, make a point to go. Whether you have kids or you are just looking for a beautiful place to spend time with family, this new addition to Riverside Park is something special. I walked through it myself and felt like a kid again. There is so much thought and care put into this playground, and it really shows. The main play structure is massive and two levels tall, with a bridge that connects both sides. I climbed all the way up to the top just to take in the view and it was totally worth it. You can see the whole park from up there. The slides coming down were too tempting to pass up, so yes, I definitely slid down one like I was seven years old. No regrets. What really caught my attention was the water stream feature. It is such a unique and fun touch that adds an extra layer of play. On a warm day, I can already imagine kids splashing around and exploring. Right next to it is a fully accessible merry-go-round and a turtle shell swing that is also inclusive, so more families can enjoy this space together. There is also a separate toddler playground, sensory boards, and the entire surface is that soft pour-in-place material, which makes it safer and easier to move around on. Whether your kids are little or a bit older, there is something for everyone to enjoy.Riverside Park itself has always been one of my favorite places in Beloit. You are right along the river, there are plenty of open spaces for picnics, walking trails, and now this incredible playground that just makes it even more of a destination. You can tell that this space was built with love and with the community in mind.If you are looking for a place to bring your family this weekend, go explore Turtle Island. It is fun, it is beautiful, and it is exactly the kind of project that makes me proud to call the Stateline area home.See you out there.

Karenke Candle Company Lights Up the Rockton River Market

One of the best parts of visiting the Rockton River Market is getting to connect with small business owners who truly care about what they do. That was the case when I stopped by Karenke Candle Company, run by Thomas and his wife Melissa.Their story started with a simple candle-making kit. They wanted to make candles for friends and family, but the results were not quite what they hoped for. Instead of giving up, they took it as a challenge. Thomas and Melissa spent over a year testing different types of wax and fragrances until they found a combination that checked all the boxes for clean ingredients, long burn time, and amazing scent quality.Today, Karenke Candle Company offers a full line of products, including soy-based candles, wax melts, room sprays, and even custom orders for weddings, special events, and gifts. Every product is made with care, using more natural and safe materials that give off just the right amount of fragrance. They also offer local delivery, ship across the United States, and provide wholesale options for shops that want to carry their products. Beyond just business, Thomas and Melissa are passionate about giving back. They work with local youth organizations and offer fundraising opportunities that support community efforts. Some of their most-loved scents include Oakmoss Amber, Fresh Lilac, and Eucalyptus and Spearmint. Whether you are into floral, fresh, or earthy tones, you will find something that fits your style. You can catch Karenke Candle Company at the Rockton River Market on select days or shop their full collection online. Whether you are treating yourself or looking for a thoughtful gift, this is one vendor you will want to remember.Thomas and Melissa have built more than a candle brand. They have created a business grounded in quality, care, and community—and it shows in every product they make.

Summer Sips and Fresh Blooms in Rockton at DeeDee’s Main Street Coffee & Decor and Buckets n Blooms

There is something really special about finding two amazing small businesses sharing one cozy space, and that is exactly what you will discover at DeeDee’s Main Street Coffee & Decor and Buckets n Blooms in downtown Rockton.DeeDee’s is one of my favorite stops when I need something cool and refreshing on a warm day. Sure, they serve great coffee, but their summer drinks deserve just as much love. I grabbed their pomegranate raspberry tea with lemonade and it was everything I needed to beat the heat. I have also tried the raspberry lemonade iced tea and it was just as delicious. These drinks are light, fruity, and perfect for summer afternoons. While I was there, I noticed something tucked in the back of the shop and had to check it out. Buckets n Blooms is a floral studio that brings serious charm and creativity to the space. They offer fresh-cut floral arrangements, wrapped bouquets, and local delivery. You can even sign up for a floral subscription if you want to keep your home full of color all season long. They also host workshops where you can make things like pressed flower bookmarks and explore houseplants. One of the coolest features is the Bloom Bar, where you can create your own custom bouquet. There is also a standout floral art piece on display that looks like a full 3D flower vest and it is such a fun and unique touch.Together, DeeDee’s and Buckets n Blooms make this Rockton spot a perfect summer stop. Whether you are craving a refreshing drink or want to bring home something beautiful, you will leave feeling inspired and refreshed.
