BIFF 2023, also known as The Beloit International Film Festival, is an annual ten-day celebration showcasing the captivating world of independent cinema from various corners of the globe. Drawing local residents and visitors nationwide, this festival offers a rich tapestry of international films, with venues ranging from cozy 40-seat settings to larger 400-seat theaters, presenting a total of 100 exceptional films. Festival-goers also have the chance to engage with numerous filmmakers, hailing from both the United States and beyond.

Despite facing challenges in the past two years, BIFF remains resilient and stronger than ever, according to Executive Director Greg Gerard. The festival's pre-screeners diligently reviewed submissions for eight months, resulting in a selection of 100 outstanding independent films and a record number of attending filmmakers.

This year, all presentations will be in-person at popular downtown venues, including some newly renovated screening rooms. Beloved events like the BIFF Sing Along and the First National Bank Classic Film Showcase will make a return.

BIFF 2023 venues encompass familiar spots like Bagels & More, the Hendricks Center for the Arts, and the Downtown Beloit Association. Additional screening locations include La Casa Grande, Visit Beloit, and the exciting Weissberg Auditorium in the Powerhouse at Beloit College. The Beloit College CELEB building at 437 East Grand Ave. will once again serve as the official BIFF Box Office throughout the festival.

Film enthusiasts can anticipate the complete Beloit Daily News printed program, set to be unveiled on Feb. 9 at the annual Reveal Party. Hosted in collaboration with the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce at the Hampton Inn in Beloit from 5-7pm, this event, priced at $5, offers a sneak peek into the festival with food and drinks from G5 Brewing Company, film previews, and free ticket giveaways.
