Downtown Beloit will raise a glass tomorrow, October 16th at 4 p.m., as the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce hosts a special ribbon cutting for 5BAR, celebrating five years of business. The event will take place right at the bar — 530 E Grand Ave — and marks an important milestone for a spot that has become one of Beloit’s most unique hangouts.

5BAR is known for its relaxed, creative atmosphere and craft-driven approach to cocktails. What started as a fun typo — a text about opening a “dive bar” that autocorrected to “5BAR” — turned into a full concept built around the five senses, five elements, and five tastes. Each month the menu changes, featuring new, balanced cocktails made with house-made syrups, fresh citrus, and local ingredients whenever possible.

The bar’s cozy layout, comfortable lighting, and friendly service make it a staple of the downtown scene. It’s not a loud, crowded place — it’s a spot where you can actually unwind, talk with friends, or catch a local musician performing in the back room.

At the center of it all is Levi Andersen, the owner and creative force behind 5BAR. Levi is more than a mixologist — he’s a community builder. He also helped create The Castle, a restored historic venue that hosts events and adds to Beloit’s growing creative energy. Levi’s passion for art, music, and local culture shows through in everything he does.

On a personal note, I’ve known Levi for a while now. He was one of the very first Beloit business owners to show me some love when I started Stateline Buzz. In fact, he took part in one of my first Buzz features — something I’ll always appreciate. My wife and I love going to 5BAR because it has such a different, relaxed vibe. It feels safe, comfortable, and genuine — the kind of place you can go to end a long week or catch up with friends without any pressure.

Tomorrow’s ribbon-cutting, hosted by the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce, will be more than just a formal ceremony. It’s a chance for the community to come together and celebrate what small business success really looks like: consistency, creativity, and connection. 5BAR has become a go-to spot for both locals and visitors, and Levi has played a big role in keeping downtown Beloit vibrant.

If you haven’t visited yet, tomorrow’s event is the perfect time to stop by, congratulate Levi and his team, and see what five years of passion and dedication look like. Grab a drink, meet some great people, and be part of a moment that celebrates not just a business — but a community built around good energy and good people.
